We held our annual garden party on Wednesday 23rd July at East Ruston’s Old Vicarage Gardens, by kind permission of Graham Robeson OBE and Alan Gray.
Association members were able to enjoy the gardens - painstakingly created from nothing by Graham and Alan since their arrival at the Old Vicarage in 1973 – in soaring temperatures on one of the hottest days so far in 2019. Music was provided by jazz group, ‘Tangential’.
The Association has gone from strength to strength in recent months, with the appointment of a new committee; growing membership numbers; and a determination to represent the interests of all who live and work in North Norfolk. Having recently selected Duncan Baker – born and brought up in Holt – as their new prospective Parliamentary candidate, the Association is about to launch a series of initiatives under the banner ‘Our Plan for North Norfolk’. These plans will identify key priorities for each of North Norfolk’s market towns and rural communities, and residents will be invited to get involved by offering their thoughts and ideas on the things which matter most to them.
Also new for 2019 is the Association’s strategy for embracing technology and social media to communicate with residents and encourage a wider, more open culture of discussion about what’s needed to develop and enhance the quality of life in North Norfolk. The Association is now using Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter – you can find and follow these by searching for ‘nnconservatives’. The Association’s website at www.northnorfolkconservatives.org.uk also has lots of information, news, and events.
There are other ways to get involved too: membership of the Association is just £25 per year, and offers the chance to be more closely in touch with local politics, as well as being a great way to meet an interesting, vibrant, and diverse cross-section of local people through dinners, coffee mornings, and a whole host of other events. Deputy Chairman (Membership), Tom Herman, is always happy to hear from prospective members at [email protected].
