On the 4th May I will be standing to become our next District Councillor in North Walsham Market Cross.
I have lived in North Walsham since 1982, moving here when I was just 13 years old. Over the past 40 years I have developed a special bond with the town I love. This is why I hope to represent you at North Norfolk District Council - to try to make North Walsham an even better place to live and work.
I previously worked as a senior probation officer in Norwich and in 2017 left the probation service to start my own business. 5 years later I now own four businesses, all of which are based in North Walsham and employ over 20 local people. As a business owner, I know the impact that the dramatic loss of footfall has had on everyone in the town due to the poorly thought out works. If elected in May, I will work to get people back into the town centre and strive to make sure North Walsham retains its flourishing and prosperous business community.
I also enjoy volunteering in the town. I was a youth leader in North Walsham for over 10 years. I recently retired from being Chair of Governors at North Walsham Junior School after 15 years in the post. During my tenure, I was able to help the school reach an excellent grade from Ofsted.
Recently, I helped our MP Duncan Baker deliver 112 generators to Ukraine. I was proud of the role I played helping the Ukrainian people in the face of Putin's invasion. I will continue to show ardent support for Ukraine if elected as your next District Councillor.
I hope that you will support me in my efforts to improve the place we all call our home.
